I know, I know, we've not long got back from a holiday but it was a fairly busy trip and we didn't really get a chance to just chill and dip our toes in the sea. It did do an excellent job of filling up our 'been there' bag. That’s when you see a location on the telly and shout ‘been there!’.
I'm not sure what the appropriate amount of time between holidays should be. I'm thinking about 3/4 months is about right. It's enough time to get back in to your routine and develop those feelings of ennui (excellent word) that can only be relieved by fucking off to somewhere new and preferably warm/dry.
A big factor of booking this holiday was the price which is £866. That's not PP that's the whole thing. In fact before I added a few extras it was actually well below £800! For this low, low price we're getting a flight from Bristol (albeit at 6am), coach transfers to a 5 star hotel (The Royal Thalassa Monastir) and it's all inclusive! Try getting a weeks holiday in the UK for that. In fact I was curious so looked up the Royal Hotel across the river from our house and a room only stay for the same week was over £1000.
Tunisia is a strange one as it’s not really been on our radar and we’re only going because of the price. Like most of the countries on the African side of the Mediterranean it does appear to be very good value. All I hope is that the weather is good and the food is edible, anything else is going to be a bonus. Consequently we haven't got anything planned except to do nothing. I'm even going to take a physical book and I can't remember the last time I bought one of those. Sometimes with low expectations comes a great holiday.
